Health Care Programs

Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP) provide health care coverage to eligible families with children, adults, people with disabilities and seniors.   You can find general information about Minnesota Health Care programs by clicking here.

Medical Assistance (MA):  also known as Medicaid.  This is a health care program that pays for medical care of low income people as well as some individuals with a disability.  MA also pays for Long Term Care (LTC) services and Home and Community Based Waivers.

MinnesotaCare (MNcare): is a health care program for people who live in Minnesota who do not have access to affordable health insurance.  There are eligibility requirements that need to be met and there is a premium for this coverage.

Families with children, single adults who do not have any children under 19 living with them, are under age 65, and do not have a disability can apply online at MNsure  MNsure acts as a front door for Minnesotans to apply for health insurance, including public health programs managed by the State of Minnesota and private health insurance managed by individual insurance companies.  You can also complete a paper application.
