Big Stone County, in coordination with Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office, subscribes to emergency alerts through the Smart911 Emergency Alert System. The Big Stone County Sheriffs Office and Emergency Management place your safety as our top priority. That’s why we want to make sure you are informed and prepared when an emergency strikes. Citizens of Big Stone County will have the option to receive the highest priority National Weather Service alerts based on your real-time location and it’s also a way for us to inform you of other imminent threats that occur in the County.
To sign up, Search and download the “Smart911” App on your mobile device, or you can go to https://smart911.com/. A user can select the notification they wish to receive along with how they would like to receive them (home phone, email, cell phone, etc). Additional options to receive snow emergency alerts for the City of Ortonville and City of Graceville are included in the menu list. A user can modify their subscription selections at any time as they control their Smart911 account.
